Mary Doris Vobornik

Doris Vobornik, 88, passed away on Saturday, May 15, 2010 at Parkland Manor Nursing Home in Prague, Oklahoma. She was born Mary Doris Bradley on April 12, 1922 in Prague, Oklahoma and lived a long fulfilling life. Doris was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, friend and employee. On February 15, 1940, she married Frederick Edward Vobornik, Sr. and together they had two children, Marilyn and Frederick Edward, Jr. Doris loved to cook and bake for her family and friends. She was known for her kolaches, breads, and pastries. Doris also had a passion for antiques. She would often bring home a “piece of junk” that Fred would somehow turn into a work of art. Their home was fully furnished with these treasures which have been passed on and are still cherished. Doris was a lifelong member of ZCBJ/WFLA Lodge 46 Prague, Eastern Star and the Prague First United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Mattie Ann (Williamson) Bradley; four brothers; beloved husband, Fred; son, Frederick Edward, Jr.; grandson, Gregory Steve Ownby. Although Doris has finally reunited with her beloved husband, in a much better place, she will be unbelievably missed by all of us that love her. Survivors include daughter, Marilyn Ownby of Prague; grandsons,Mitchell Ownby of Rockwall, TX, Zachery Vobornik of Atlanta, GA, Frederick Edward Vobornik III “Trey” and Jessie Vobornik of Yukon; granddaughter, Heather Lamb of Tulsa; great-grandchildren, Bracken and Taylor Ownby of Edmond, Madison, Kennedy and McKinley Ownby of Rockwall, TX, Brittany, MacKenzie, Andrew and Alex Lamb of Tulsa; many nephews, nieces and cousins. The Vobornik family will receive friends and family on Tuesday, May 18, 2010 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, May 19, 2010 at 2:00 PM, at the First United Methodist Church in Prague with Rev. Sharon Capron officiating. Interment will follow at Prague Cemetery in Prague. Services are under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Service in Prague.
