Leonard W. Booker was born in Stroud, Oklahoma on October 13, 1920 and departed this life in Claremore, Oklahoma on Monday, May 16, 2011 at the age of 90 years. Leonard was the son of Edgar T. and Agnes (Wood) Booker. He was a resident of Claremore, Oklahoma since 2008 moving from Stroud, Oklahoma. He was in the United States Army where he served in WWII. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Stroud, he was a 32nd degree Mason for 58 years, Stroud Lions Club, American Legion, Stroud City Council. He was appointed by President Eisenhower as Stroud Postmaster in 1959 where he retired in 1983 . He married Margaret Meredith in Oklahoma on August 16, 1943. Margaret preceded him in death March 27, 2003. He married Billie Raye Russell in Stroud, Oklahoma on October 15, 2005. Billie preceded him in death June 17, 2008 Leonard was also preceded in death by his parents. Survivors include, One Daughter & Son in Law, Dana and Larry Craigie of Claremore, OK, Three Grandchildren, Chris Craigie & wife Gina, Jennifer & husband Ryan Ross Will Craigie & Jill McNamara, Six Great Grandchidren Brandon, Brianna, Braxton, Bryson Craigie, Parker Jone and Campbell Ross, Other relatives and friends Funeral service will be held at the First United Methodist Church in Stroud, Oklahoma on Thursday, May 19, 2011 at 10:00 A.M. with Rev. Joe Mollencupp officiating. Burial will be in the Stroud Cemetery under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Service in Stroud, Oklahoma. Memorial may be made to the Stain Glass Fund at the First United Methodist Church, Stroud, Oklahoma.
