Lavon Carl Murcer, long-time Chandler, OK, resident was born on April 16, 1923, in Oklahoma City, OK, and departed this life on Saturday, July 24, 2010, in Chandler, at the age of 87. Lavon was the son of Robert Harlan and Sadie Lee (Schafer) Murcer. He married Laura Dowtin on August 6, 1949, in Oklahoma City. Lavon served in the United States Army during World War II. He owned and operated Murcers Jewelry Store in Chandler for many years. Lavon was a member of the Chandler First Baptist Church and the Masonic Lodge. His parents, one son, one brother and two sisters preceded Lavon in death. Survivors include, wife, Laura Murcer of the home, one daughter & son-in-law, Vicki & Dick Evans of Chandler, OK, six grandchildren, Wes Schroeder of Pittsburg, PA, Scott & Miranda Schroeder of OKC, Brittany Schroeder of Denver, CO, Brent Evans of Ft. Worth, TX Greg Evans of Ft. Worth, TX, other relatives and many friends. Memorial may be made to the Chandler Food Pantry, P.O Box 284, Chandler, OK. or to American Cancer Society. Memorial services will be held on Tuesday, July 27, 2010, 10:00A.M., at the Parks Brothers Funeral Chapel in Chandler, with Pastor Charles Luster, Rev. Hugh Willoby and Wes Schroeder officiating. Services are under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Service in Chandler.
