L.N. ?Les? Poynter, Jr., age 74, was born on August 29, 1930, in Oklahoma City, OK, and departed this life on Thursday, September 9, 2004, in Oklahoma City, OK. L.N. was the son of Lindsay N. Poynter & Carrie Estelle Johnson Newcomb. He served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict as a paratrooper. L.N. worked as a truck driver hauling produce and loved woodworking, horseracing, gardening and playing on the computer. L.N. was preceded in death by his father, and his wife, Dortha Eaton Poynter. Survivors include 3 sons & spouses, David & Debbie Chadwick, Richardson, TX, Dwight Chadwick, Chickasha, OK; Craig Hitchcock, Norman, OK; 2 daughters & spouses, Toni & Paul Stine, OKC, OK, Darla Basinger, Moore, OK; mother, Carrie Estelle Newcomb, Harrah, OK; 2 brothers & spouses, Byron & Diane Poynter, Harrah, OK, Everett & Barbara Poynter, Austin, TX; 1 sister & spouse, Angela & Matt Hans, Yukon, OK; special friend & childhood sweetheart, Irene George, Bethany, OK; 10 grandchildren and many other relatives and friends. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 AM Monday, September 13, 2004, at Rosedale Cemetery, Rosedale, OK, with Rev. Bill Derrick officiating. Services are under the direction of Smith~Parks Funeral Service in Harrah, OK.
