Joy Mae Jones

Long-time Prague resident, Joy Mae Jones, 79, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, April 15, 2010, in Prague. Joy Mae Bland was born on January 7, 1931, to Everett Washington and Boneta Sue (Dawkins) Bland in Prague, Oklahoma. She married Bob Joe Jones on June 20, 1948 in Prague. They had 61 happy years together. Joy was a homemaker and a 65-year member of the Garden Grove Missionary Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School and Bible School classes. Her parents and one baby sister preceded Joy in death. Survivors include husband, Bob Jones of the home; son and daughter-in-law, Larry and Patsy Jones of McAlester; daughters and son-in-law, Kathy Tidwell of Tyler, TX, Terri and Gary Phillips of Holdenville; sister and brother-in-law, Betty and Jim Garner of Prague; sisters-in-law,Lois Wright of Chandler, Carol Parsons and husband, John, of Enid; grandchildren, Timothy Jones and wife, Julie, Rachel White and husband, Chris, Dustin Tidwell, Aaron Tidwell and wife, Lindsey, Devon Tidwell, Shane Phillips and wife, Amanda, Alisha Pope and husband, Justin, Chase Phillips; great-grandchildren, Kaylee, Brent, Littie Joy (Joy’s namesake), Abigail, and Aubrey; step-great-grandsons, Jacob and Trenton. The Jones family will receive friends at Parks Brothers Funeral Home on Sunday, April 18, 2010, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Funeral services will be held on Monday, April 19, 2010 at 10:00 AM, at Garden Grove Missionary Baptist Church with Bro. Charlie Clem and Bro. Mike Raines officiating. Interment will follow at Garden Grove Cemetery in Prague. Services are under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Service.
