Jimmie Dwain Cook, 71, passed away at his home on Thursday, July 28, 2022, in Chandler, Oklahoma. Jimmie was born on Saturday, March 31, 1951, in Chandler, to Joseph E. Cook Jr. and Mary Lou (Wilson) Cook. He graduated from Carney High School, Carney, Oklahoma, in 1971. Shortly after graduating high school, Jimmie and his brother Raymond were drafted into the United States Army and deployed to Vietnam. He was apart of the field artillery unit stationed in Stuttgart, Germany. After serving 3 years in the Army, Jimmie was honorably discharged but then reenlisted in the United States Navy. Stationed in Norfolk, Virginia, he worked as a machinist for the Navy and rose to the rank of Petty Officer 1st Class. Jimmie was honorably discharged from the Navy after 4 years of service. After serving our country, Jimmie worked in the oilfield for a short time before continuing his education at Oklahoma State University Vo-Tech where he earned an associate degree in diesel mechanics. He worked at a variety of factories and machine shops during his career. Jimmie lived in towns across Lincoln and Okmulgee counties, he settled back in Chandler in 2012 where he was a member of the American Legion and Chandler Southern Baptist Church. In his spare time, he enjoyed tinkering with electronics. Jimmie was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph E. and Mary Lou Cook Jr.; a sister, Betsy Louella Cook; and brothers, Rodney Cook, Raymond Cook, and Coy Cook. Those left to cherish his memory are his brother Dennis Cook and his wife, Johnnie Kay Cook, and Joseph Cook III and his partner, Patricia “Patti” Grubbs; 8 nieces and nephews; his uncle, Robert P. Cook; as well as a host of other family members and friends.
