James "Jack" Welton Lowery

James Welton 'Jack' Lowery, age 84, of Choctaw, OK was born on July 11, 1929, in Russellville, Alabama. He was the son of Buford & Essie (McMurry) Lowery. He left this life on Thursday, January 9, 2014, in Choctaw, OK. Jack proudly served in the U. S. Army. He married Mary Young on December 10, 1955, in St. Louis, MO. Jack worked for General Motors for 30 years. He was a member of the VFW Post 1317 of Shawnee and the American Legion. Jack enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening and working in his yard. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Charles & Jerry Lowery and one sister, Sybil McCalmon. Survivors include his wife, Mary Lowery, of the home; son & daughter-in-law, Mike & Connie Lowery, McLoud, OK; daughter & son-in-law, Ramona & William Marse, Greenville, TX; 4 sisters, Joyce Yowell, Sullivan, MO, Honey Lowery, St. Charles, MO, Ann Wilson, O'Fallon, MO, Sissy Lowery, Sikeston, MO; 3 grandchildren, Adam Lowery, Jason Lowery & wife, Mandy and Ashley Lowery and many other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be 10:00 AM, Monday, January 13, 2014, at the Asa Smith Memorial Chapel, Harrah, OK. Interment will follow at Memory Lane Cemetery, Harrah, OK. Services are under the direction of Smith~Parks Funeral Service in Harrah, OK.
