Iona Slayton

Iona Dell Slayton was born on September 30, 1922, in Chandler, Oklahoma, and departed this life on Monday, November 23, 2009, in Prague, at the age of 87. Iona, the daughter of Lorin E. and Leafy Dell (Obenchain)Miller, was a resident of Prague. She married Darrel G. Slayton on August 26, 1941 in OKC, OK. He preceded her in death on May 2, 1996. Iona lived most of her life in Lincoln County and graduated from Sparks High School. She and Darrell owned and operated the Prague Locker Plant from 1960 to 1996. Iona was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, the Rebekka Lodge, and attended the Methodist Church. Her parents, one sister, and one great-grandson also preceded Iona in death. Survivors include sons and daughters-in-law, Stan Slayton of Chandler, Lorin and Laura Slayton of Prague, Ron and Sheila Slayton of Chandler; daughter, Rhonda Slayton Gregory of Waxahachie, TX; step-son, Jerry Gross and his wife Joan of Sacramento, CA; step-daughter, Jean Re of CA; 12 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren.
