Herchel James Mckee

Herchel James McKee was born on July 28, 1909, in Seminole, Oklahoma, and departed this life on Thursday, October 4, 2007, in Prague, Oklahoma, at the age of 98. Herchel, the son of Wiley and Ollie Qualls McKee, was a resident of Prague. He married Sylvia Agnes Brimm on February 24, 1931, in Okemah, Oklahoma. She preceded Herchel in death on April 11, 2006. He worked as a welder in a shipyard and later as a farmer. Herchel enjoyed dancing, pitching horseshoes, and playing dominoes, pittle, and penny ante poker. Herchel never met a stranger and will be missed by all. His parents; one daughter, Lucille; four brothers, Roy, John, Jack, and Ray; four sisters, Artie Eldridge, Gertrude Shoup, Elline Massengill, and Norabelle Orr, also preceded Herchel in death. Survivors include: Sons and daughters-in-law, Charles and Dorothy McKee of Prague, OK, Billy and Bonnie McKee of Meeker, OK; daughter, Lois McKee Butler of Shawnee, OK; brothers and sisters-in-law, Al and Lois McKee of Arizona, George and Helen McKee of Prague, OK, David and Georgia Lou McKee of Idaho; sisters and brothers-in-law, Edith and Jimmy Dunham of Texas, Mary McBroom of California; grandchildren, Bob McKee, Dan McKee, Pam Ross, Chuck McKee, Scott McKee, Cheryl Gottfried, Tina Jackson, Jackie Chastain, Ricky Butler, and Cindy Butler; 21 great-grandchildren; 14 great-great-grandchildren A graveside service will be held on Monday, October 8, 2007 at 10:00 AM, at Little Cemetery in Seminole County with Bro. Tim Emmons officiating. Services are under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Service in Prague.
