Elvesta Margaret Standlee

Elvesta Margaret Standlee of Meeker, Oklahoma, passed away on Monday, October 2, 2023 at the age of 95. Elvesta was born on October 14, 1927 in Tecumseh, Oklahoma. She was the daughter of Troy lee and Beulah Lola (Youngblood) Ellison. Elvesta and her family made their home in Tecumseh until she was 9 years old. At the age of 9, she and her family moved to Meeker. She attended Rich Hill Schools up until the eighth grade.
Elvesta married Clifford Standlee on August 17, 1946 and the couple made their home in Meeker. Together, they raised four children. Clifford and Elvesta started the Clifford Standlee Dozer Service and the two worked side by side. She made lunches daily and the family often ate together in the shade of a tree near the work site. They also owned and operated their own dairy farm. Elvesta enjoyed spending her time and effort on the dairy. She was a hard worker and took great pride in her work.
Elvesta was rarely idle, she loved to stay busy and had many skills. She was a skilled seamstress and also enjoyed crocheting. She took great pride in her lawn and her garden, spending many hours tending to them, she especially enjoyed mowing. Her greatest passion was her family and her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Elvesta loved to spend time with her children and grandchildren. She was also a dedicated member of the Prague Church of Christ for more than 50 years.
Elvesta was preceded in death by her parents; her loving husband of more than 31 years, Clifford Standlee; her son, Lindell Standlee; two daughters-in-law, Cindy Standlee and Jaylene Standlee; two brothers, George Ellison and Howard Ellison and two sisters, Mary Wilma Standlee and Patricia JoAnn Edmonds.
She is survived by her daughter, Laveda Standlee; two sons, Darrell Standlee and Gaylon Standlee; fifteen grandchildren, David Carter, Shani McKee, Ken McKee, Lindell Wayne Standlee, Felicia Springer, Tammy Turner, Larry Millican, Shawn Standlee, Jennifer Standlee-Daniels, Aaron Standlee, Daniel Standlee, Alicia Jacobs, Lacey Standlee, Ashley Standlee and Cody Standlee; numerous great-grandchildren and great great-grandchildren; one sister, Helen McKee and her husband, George; and host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
A funeral service is scheduled for 10:00 AM on Friday, October 6, 2023 at the Prague Church of Christ. Burial will immediately follow at Rossville Cemetery in Meeker.
