Doyle Russell

November 6, 1918 — November 14, 2009

Doyle Russell was born on November 6, 1918 in Tomaha, Oklahoma, to Jasper and Elizabeth (Moss) Russell. He departed this life on Saturday, November 14, 2009, in Prague. Doyle spent much of his life working in the oil fields and living in Seminole. In 1958, he moved to McMinnville, Oregon. In 1963, he returned to Oklahoma and married Alma Parsons Hightower of Prague in 1965. Doyle served as a police officer for the City of Prague for many years, and later served at Meeker. He retired from police work in 1981. Alma preceded Doyle in death in 2006. He was able to continue living in his home after Alma’s death because of the continuous loving support and assistance of his step-daughter, Sherry Nolan. Doyle had a passion for life. He loved people, was known for his kindness and cheerful personality, and will be missed by all who knew him. He enjoyed gardening and fishing. Doyle was a big football fan – especially the Dallas Cowboys, Oklahoma University, and Oklahoma State University. In his last year, Doyle’s favorite thing to do was listening to live western music and gospel hymns. He and his close companion, Jeanie Heath of Prague, would attend music gatherings at Meeker, Paden, and any other place in the area where music was being performed. Doyle’s parents; daughter, Carolyn Russell; and two brothers, P.G. Russell and Clem Russell, also preceded him in death. Survivors include sons and daughters-in-law, Sherman and Margaret Russell of Carlton, Oregon, Norman and Dian Russell of Claremore, Darrell and Martha Russell of Edmond, Denzel and Gay Russell of Racine, Wisconsin; step-daughter, Sherry Nolan of Prague; brother and sister-in-law, Joe and Bennie Russell of Perkins; sister, Alba Green of Midwest City; sister-in-law, Icel Lee Russell of Valley Center, Kansas; many wonderful grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.
