Carol Ann Small Gamel went to her heavenly home on February 19, 2022 in Tulsa, Oklahoma, at the age of 80 due to an infection after surgery. She was born on December 13, 1941 in Washington, Indiana to Robert Marion and Vivian Terry Small. Carol attended Lincoln Christian College in Springfield, Illinois, but left short of graduation because at the time they would not ordain women. While there she served as a missionary in Jamaica. She later moved to Florida and joined the Civil Air Patrol with her father, where she met Ron, her husband of 54 years. Ron and Carol flew many CAP missions together. She went back to school at Tulsa Technology Center studying fashion design, and worked there as an avionics secretary, librarian, and substitute teacher. She retired with her husband in 2002, when she began her ministry as the founding chaplain of the Chapel at Oaklake Trails. She also enjoyed traveling, camping, sewing, Ham Radio and writing. She is survived by her husband Ron Gamel; siblings Terry Gump of Carterville, IL, Richard Small of Depew, OK, and Lora Small - McGowen of Huntsville, AL; children Janette Sagraves of Mt. Juliet, TN, Ronnie Gamel, Jr of Mt. Juliet, TN, Jerry Rowland of Springfield, MO, and Terry Gamel of Tulsa, OK; grandchildren Matthew Sagraves of Lebanon, TN, Ashley Rowland of Seattle, WA, Aly Rowland of Seattle, WA, Alyssa Rowland of Springfield, MO, and Glen Rowland of Springfield, MO; and great grandchild Gavin Sagraves. The Memorial Service honoring her life will begin at 3:00 PM on Saturday, February 26, 2022, at the Chapel at Oaklake Trails, Depew, OK.
