Bufford Tyrone Wilson Godwin was born on July 23, 1963 to Narvelene Wilson and Clarence Godwin in Stroud, Oklahoma. During this union Bufford was the first born of 3 children. As a youth, Bufford attend Midwest City Public Schools. He graduated from Stroud High School with the class of 1981. During high school Bufford loved playing football. His nickname on the football field was “Danger”. Bufford enjoyed cooking, cleaning, ironing jeans (with cleaners’ crease), writing and talking with family and friends. He was incarcerated for most of his adult life. Bufford lived for 57 years, 8 months and 28 days. While incarcerated he earned trustee status and always worked in the kitchen earning his “Master Chef” Title. Bufford reverted to Muslim and was a believer of the Islamic faith while incarcerated and practiced this faith until his death. On Sunday, March 28, 2021 Bufford departed this life on earth. His Father Clarence Godwin, Grandparents; Jack and Nina Godwin, Jessie Mae Wilson and John Wilson, Uncles: Paul Davis, Leroy Davis, Aunts: Helen “Moochie” Mixon, Elouise “Lou” Tate, Dorothy “Cal” Neal, Jacquelyn “Candy” Godwin, and a host of cousins preceded him in death. Bufford is survived and leaves to forever cherish his memory his mother; Narvelene Christopher of Stroud, OK, 2 daughters; Sherea L. Salonne Carter of Tulsa, OK, Naomi Angel Thomas of Dallas, TX, 2 sons; Marvis Tyrone Thomas of Sayre, OK, Antonio Youngblood of Wichita, KS, Grandchildren; Vishion and Willow (Salonne), Tywanna and Marvis Jr. (Marvis), Aaliyah (Naomi Angel). 5 sisters; Winifred Gay Godwin-Foster of Carrolton, TX, Sherry Simmons of Oklahoma City, OK, Gail Godwin of Stroud, OK, Melinda Walker of Kansas City, MO, Florence Star Godwin of Dallas, TX and 1 brother; John “Toy” (Armintha) Godwin of Stroud, OK. Also leaving to cherish his memory, uncles: Leslie Davis of Oklahoma City, OK, Wilford (Constance) Anderson of Ada, OK, Bobby (Marcia) Godwin of Moberly, MO, Harold Punch Jones of Wichita, KS; aunts: Irene Coffee of Oklahoma City, OK, Toni Godwin of Bristow, OK, Glenda Spratt of Oklahoma City, OK; great aunts: Oneida Barber of Oklahoma City, OK, Vivian Lawrence of Forest Park, IL, Gertrude Montgomery of Philadelphia, PA. 7 Nieces, 8 nephews, 5 great nieces, 7 great nephews, lifelong friend Wilma Riley-Jacobs and host of cousins and friends. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, April 10, 2021 at the First United Methodist Church in Stroud, OK officiated by Elder Toni Godwin.
