Bobbie V.L. Gangemi

January 25, 1918 — March 15, 2005

Bobbie V.L .Gangemi, 87, after a courageous battle with cancer passed away, Tuesday, March 15, 2005, at the home of her daughter, Toni Jensen, in Harrah, OK. She was born January 25, 1918, in Dale, OK, to Frank Pink and Elizabeth Dodson Phelps, the oldest and strongest of four children. She graduated from Central High School in Oklahoma City, in 1936. In 1939, she moved to California and it was there she met and married her soul mate, Frank Gangemi. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Frank J. Gangemi; her son, Paul Frank 'Skip' Gangemi; grandson, Adam Gangemi; and her three siblings, Clifford Phelps, Louise O''Donnell and Maxine Hunt. She is survived by two daughters and husbands, Antonette and Steve Jensen, Sally and Gerald Byers of Harrah, and her most precious daughter in law, Julie Gangemi of Weaverville, NC; seven grandchildren, Paula Kegin and husband Glen, David Byers and wife Kris, Michael Crabb and wife DeLana, Jessica Newman and husband Tom, Sally Michelle Jensen, Paul Frank 'Skipper' Gangemi Jr., and Phillip J. Gangemi; six great-grandchildren, Scott and Ryan Kegin, Reagan Crabb, Steven and Baylee Byers, Jackson Byers and Callah Newman; and many nieces and nephews who loved, respected and looked to her for understanding and love, which was her greatest gift. Bobbie leaves a legacy of hospitality, a wonderful sense of humor and an unselfish and gracious love which she withheld from no one. Her standard was high where children were concerned, since her days of teaching nursery school she believed you could never love a child too much, no matter how old they were or to whom they belonged. It was not uncommon to find her sitting on the floor racing cars or having a tea party with her great-grandchildren. She didn''t use the 'book method' to teach, she used the 'arms method', holding and comforting all, even on the eve of her passing. She was called by many names, Mom, Sis, Aunt, Grandma, Nanu, Mo Mo, but most called her love and now God has called her home, where she''s singing Hello Dolly with the angels, and we are so grateful for the time she shared with us. A memorial service will be held at 10:00 AM, Saturday, March 19, at the Harrah Church of the Nazarene, 20775 North Street, Harrah, OK, with Rev. Hubert Gilbert officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Sooner Quality Hospice, Inc., 921 Sooner Road, Del City, OK 73110. Services are under the direction of Smith-Parks Funeral Service, Harrah, OK
