Bob Pickett

Bobby "Bob" Javon Pickett, of Prague, Oklahoma, passed away on Sunday, December 10th, 2023, in Prague at the age of 87. Bob was born on September 25th, 1936, in Prague, Oklahoma. He was the son of Robert Pickney and Lillie Pearl (Tomanka) Pickett. Bob was a 1954 graduate of Putnam City High School and attended Oklahoma State University after high school.

After his time at Oklahoma State, Bob went to work for Western Electric/Lucent Technology, where he worked until his retirement in 1995. While at Western Electric, Bob had many roles, mostly in engineering and testing. In his free time, Bob enjoyed spending time in his garden, working puzzles and enjoying his favorite fishing spots.

Bob married Sharon Lee Halstead on August 18, 1972, in Oklahoma City. The couple moved around with Bob's job and in 1991, they relocated to Prague. While in Prague, Bob was an active member of the First Baptist Church and also served as the director of the First Baptist Church's Care Closet for thirty years. Bob was also a member of the Prague Lion's Club. Bob enjoyed substitute teaching at Prague Schools. He and his wife, Sharon, were honored with the Pride of Prague Award from the Prague Chamber of Commerce. Bob was well respected in the Prague Community. He always had a smile and positive attitude. Bob enjoyed taking on the role of Santa Claus and the Easter Bunny every year and brought smiles and hope to many children.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents, his son, Gregory Alan Pickett and his brother, Ron Pickett.

Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 51 years, Sharon Pickett; his son, Steve Pickett and his wife, Lorna; his daughter, Shari Nitzel and her husband, Greg; seven grandchildren, Sarah Alig, Salem Carter, Zachariah Pickett, Jacob Pickett, Rachel Nix, Lindsey Blandford and Matthew Denuszek; fifteen great-grandchildren, Jedediah, Victoria, Nitara, Matilda, Klara, Joziah, Rhiannon, Seamus, Saoirse, Aine, Maire, Samantha, Porter, Judd and Daphne; two brothers, Vernon Pickett and his wife, Gloria and Larry Pickett and his wife, Betty; his sister-in-law, Linda Pickett and host of family and friends.
