Betty Jean Smothers of Meeker, Oklahoma, passed away on April 22, 2020, in Meeker, Oklahoma, at the age of 77 years. Betty Jean Smothers was born in Magnolia, Arkansas on March 25, 1943. She was the daughter of Calvin W. and Onaree (Short) Harper. She grew up in Waldo, Arkansas and attended Waldo Public Schools. She married Billy Thomas Smothers on September 4, 1959 and they made their home in McNeil, Arkansas for a short time. They then moved to Waldo, Arkansas. She served her family as a homemaker. In 1981, they moved Oklahoma and later settled in Shawnee. On September 11, 2012 Billy preceded her in death and she continued to live in Shawnee. On January 18, 2018 she married Dennis Kinzell and they made their home in Meeker, Oklahoma. She enjoyed sewing, playing cards, bowling, putt putt golf and loved spending time with her family and grandkids. She was a member of Liberty Baptist Church in Shawnee. She was also preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Anita Wallace, JoAnn Baxley; two brothers, Calvin Walker Harper Jr, Buddy Wilburn Rupert Harper; and one great grandson, Wyatt Thomas Imry. She is survived by her husband, Dennis Kinzell of Meeker, Oklahoma; two sons, Jimmy Dale Smothers and wife Thomaslene of Lewisville, Arkansas, James Thomas Smothers II of Seminole, Oklahoma; one daughter, Donna Kay Toles and husband Mickey of Agra, Oklahoma; grandchildren, Ellis, Samantha, Sara, Sheila, Amanda, Joshua, Hannah, Kyle, Tyler, and Caitlin, fourteen great grandchildren; one sister, Janice K. Ainsworth of Magnolia, Arkansas; and numerous friends. No services are scheduled. Online condolences and memories can be shared at www.ParksBrothers.Net.
